Phoenix PD releases body camera video showing the ambush of this wounded officer
The shooting that happened on 14th of April, left police officer Denise Bruce-Jones is wounded. The suspect was taken into custody after a citywide manhunt and a barricade situation. PHOENIX – Police officials in Phoenix released new details surrounding shooting on 14th of April that left 40-year-old female officer wounded during on duty.
A shooting that happened at a convenient time store near Cave Creek and Beardsley Road, left Officer Denise Bruce-Jones is wounded. The officer, according to earlier police statements, was hit At least once in stomach.
in aftermath of shooting, and blue alert was released for suspect, identified as 35-year- old Nicholas Cowan. The warning was subsequently lifted and Cowan was arrested after the barricade in Scottsdale on April 17th.

The shooting that happened on 14th of April, left police officer Denise Bruce-Jones is wounded. The suspect, Nicholas Cowen, was subsequently arrested after a manhunt and barricade. In a critical incident briefing video posted on the Phoenix Police YouTube page. on On April 28, officials released 911 call and body camera video around the initial shooting.
“Two officers answered [the scene] speak with young woman who called the police about her suicidal boyfriend, 35-year-old “Older male suspect,” the announcer of the video read. “The woman told the officer that she had come to the gas station to draw up a report because she was afraid that there would be a violent altercation between the suspect and the police if they arrived where the couple was staying.”
“I just left in in car. He’s trying kill myself. I do not know. He’s going crazy,” the victim said. in 911 call.
“Good. We’ll call the cops. out over there,” the 911 operator replied.
“I think if the police show up there will be – will not be good for – I don’t think it will good,” the victim said. in later part of 911 call.
Cowan, officials said, later went to the gas station where the shooting took place. By that time, two officers were interrogating the victim.
“My God, it’s him,” the victim was heard to say in body camera video filmed by Bruce-Jones, as the victim saw car Cowan was driving.
“The female officer began to approach the suspect. vehicle when he raised gun and shot at her, causing her to fall to the ground,” the host of the video said.
“To come out of the–” Bruce John said, just before shots from car.
“The male officer took cap and returned fire. The suspect then started shooting at a male officer, missed and struck vehicle and building behind him,” the host of the video said.
in body camera video released by police shots were seen through a window at a convenient store location not far from where the male officer was returning fire in Cowan.
No dashboard camera video in case because the Phoenix police don’t currently use in-car camera systems.
“Suspect took off from the stage abandoned his vehicle and called an assistant pick his up’, said the host of the video.

The police transferred Cowan from the hospital to jail on April 25, but police officials later reported that Cowan had been abducted. back to the hospital for monitoring.
“At the time of booking in jail, it was decided that Cowen needed to go back to the hospital. for monitoring,” Phoenix Police Sergeant Andy Williams said in a statement. on morning of 26 April. “Officially, he was not converted over into MCSO custody before this happened.”

Other arrests made in connection with shooting
Police officers have also arrested three more people in connection with case. Among them is Cowan’s ex-girlfriend, 33-year- old Nicole Montalbano. Two others, identified as 41-year-old michael hankins and 35-year- old Caroline Coster, charged by the cops of helped Cowan evade authorities between April 14 and 17.
According to court documents, Hankins admitted to allowing Cowan to stay at his home. homebefore renting and paying for Airbnb in Scottsdale for Cowan. It was on Airbnb that the subsequent barricade arose. Hankins reportedly also bought Cowan food as well as a prepaid cell phone.
Hankins also admitted to receiving emergency alerts of Cowan wanted police, but stated that he did not understand that it was the same person. Hankins is being held without bail.
