The Israeli military has confirmed that 126 hostages are being held by Hamas since their attack eight days ago. The number of hostages was initially estimated to be around 150, but it has been revised down as bodies from the attack sites have been found. Israeli officials have also reported that 286 soldiers have been killed in response to the Hamas attacks. Hamas claims that 22 hostages have been killed in Israeli strikes.
