The 6th Digital China Construction Summit opened on April 27 in Fuzhou, the capital of south China’s Fujian Province. The “Digital China Development Report 2022” was released at the opening ceremony. According to the report, in 2022, the scale of China’s digital economy will reach 5.02 trillion yuan, which is stable in the world’s second place. The proportion of the digital economy in GDP has risen to 41.5 percent, becoming an important engine for sustainable growth and transformation.
The report shows that the scale of China’s digital infrastructure has improved significantly. By the end of 2022, 2.312 million 5G base stations have been opened across the country, and 5G users have reached 561 million, a global proportion of more than 60 percent. With this, the number of mobile Internet of Things terminal users in China reached 1.845 billion.
According to the report, the construction of China’s data processing system is accelerating. In 2022, the data output will reach 8.1ZB, an increase of 22.7 percent compared to 2021, with a global proportion of 10.5 percent, which ranks second in the world. At the same time, digital culture provides new kinetic energy for cultural enrichment and development. The number of digitally reading users in the country reached 530 million.
