In Russia, cases of scarlet fever are increasingly recorded. According RG.RUa total of 162 cases have been recorded, including three in adults.
Most often, children under the age of 14 are ill. Most diagnoses are in babies under 9 years old.
The symptoms of the disease are very similar to those of measles. There are bright red rashes, the temperature rises to 38 degrees, a severe sore throat, a cough.
Most often, the route of transmission is airborne, but there is also a contact route of infection. Scarlet fever is a bacterial disease. It is caused by group A streptococci, and they can cause both scarlet fever and tonsillitis, chronic tonsillitis, glomerulonephritis, streptoderma, and erysipelas.
