1 Million Coronavirus Cases Have Now Been Reported Worldwide

A firefighter takes a moment to rest outside a temporary hospital in a conference center in Madrid, Spain, that was set up as an overflow area for COVID-19 patients. More than a million coronavirus cases are now reported worldwide, putting intense pressure on health and emergency workers.

“This virus, which was unknown to us three months ago, has exposed the weaknesses and inequities in our health systems and societies,” World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says.
