Kolkata. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal) has created history. He has scored the fastest fifty in IPL history. He scored a half-century in just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He hit 26 runs in the first over of the match bowled by Nitish Rana. With this it became the costliest first over in IPL history.
Yashasvi has broken KL Rahul’s record in terms of fastest half-century. Rahul scored a 14-ball half-century against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the year 2018 while playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS). Pat Cummins has also scored a half-century in 14 balls in IPL. He did this feat against Mumbai Indians (MI) while playing for KKR. After this comes the number of Yusuf Pathan. He has scored a half-century in 15 balls.
Yashasvi has equaled Delhi Capitals (DC) captain David Warner in terms of scoring the most runs during the powerplay in IPL. Both the batsmen have scored 62 runs in the first 6 overs and are in fourth position. Both have done this feat against KKR. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Suresh Raina is at number one. He scored 87 against Kings XI Punjab now Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Yashasvi scored the joint second fastest half-century in T20 cricket. He has joined the club of Marcus Trescothick, Mirza Hasan and Sunil Narine.
The record for making the fastest half-century in T20 cricket is jointly held by Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle and Hazratullah Zazai. All these three players had scored half-centuries in 12 balls. Yuvraj did this feat against England by hitting 6 consecutive sixes in Stuart Broad’s over.
Yashasvi batted furiously from the start of his innings. He didn’t spare any bowler of KKR and hit big shots against everyone. He continued his aggressive batting throughout the match and scored an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls. He missed scoring a century by just 2 runs. He hit 12 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. During this, his strike rate was 208.51.
