The United States wants to ensure that the Ukrainian army's counter-offensive succeeds. This was announced by White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby in an interview with MSNBC.
He stressed that the decision to launch an offensive rests with the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We want to make sure they’re successful in this (offensive – ed.) … where they go and when they go will be up to Zelenskyy’s decision,” Kirby said.
Additionally, he noted that Washington, along with its allies and partners, is doing everything it can to ensure Kiev is “ready for this.”
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, the offensive of the Ukrainian army will begin only after the Ukrainian Armed Forces have received the necessary amount of equipment and weapons. In turn, in an interview with Ukrainian media, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov, said that the country was beginning to approach “a historic battle in its recent history”.
