What made Prince Harry and his wife decide to leave Canada? Find out everything we know about the couple’s life after they left their royal duties.

After their tense interview with Oprah, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle jetted off to Canada. They announced in January 2020 that they would be relinquishing their duties as senior members of the Royal Family. The couple’s decision to relocate to Canada was said to have felt like a weight got lifted off their shoulders. They loved their new life, from going on hikes together to spending time with their 9-month-old son Archie at their new Vancouver Island home. In fact, the couple was pleased that no old rules applied to their lives any longer, and their engagements were more casual. It did not, however, last long.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s life in Canada

According to sources, the couple enjoyed being outside and spent a lot of time in Canada. According to reports, the two had adjusted well to life away from Royal rules. They were regularly visiting local restaurants for lunch or walking their dogs.

What made Prince Harry and his wife decide to leave Canada

Since they departed from the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have kept a low profile. They were content with their quiet existence. They were busy taking long walks, practising yoga, and Meghan cooking. They were true homebodies who enjoyed spending time with Archie and the dogs.

After only a few weeks in Canada, the couple decided to relocate to Los Angeles. At that time, the United States and Canada agreed to close their borders to non-essential travel. They wanted to relieve the strain on healthcare systems caused by the coronavirus.

Prince Harry and Meghan realised that Canada would not work for them for a variety of reasons, and they now want to be based in Montecito, California. Meghan Markle got raised in Los Angeles, where her mother, Doria, works as a social worker and yoga instructor.

Meghan and Harry decided to shift

Meghan and Harry decided to buy their new home on their own. Harry could have asked Prince Charles to help pay for the house, but he chose not to. Getting his father financially involved would give the royals control over him. That would imply going backwards.

According to reports, the home cost $14.65 million, and the buyers obtained a $9.5 million mortgage to purchase the 7.4-acre compound, which is securely tucked away on a private, gated street. Their home in Montecito is about 100 miles from Los Angeles. Indeed, the location is extremely popular with celebrity clients due to its relaxed atmosphere, safety, and privacy.

Meghan and Harry’s famous neighbours include Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, and Ellen DeGeneres, while Ariana Grande and Gwyneth Paltrow are also close by. The area is well-known for its secluded hillside estates that offer complete privacy.

Meghan and Harry, like the rest of the world, have found themselves spending more time at home than ever before during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the couple has revealed their home decor to the rest of the world through video calls.

The house has nine bedrooms and sixteen bathrooms on the inside. There is also a separate guest house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which Harry and Meghan will undoubtedly use for other members of the family, particularly Meghan’s mother.

The main house has a library, an office, a spa with separate dry and wet saunas, a gym, a games room, an arcade, a movie theatre, a wine cellar, and a five-car garage. Outside, there is a tennis court, a tea house, a large outdoor pool, and even a children’s cottage for Archie and Lilibet.
