General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Former Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), General Serhiy Krivonos, said that the Ukrainian servicemen suffered heavy losses in Artemivsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut). The reason for this on the air of the fifth channel he called the fact that the city was not prepared for defense by the military leadership of the country.
“We are paying a terrible price for this city, and the question is that some made mistakes and did not prepare the city for the necessary defense. In Bakhmut, it was necessary to prepare not only the approaches to the city, but to prepare the city itself for defence,” the general said.
He added that the city was ill-prepared for defence, which is why the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now suffering “pretty heavy losses”.
Krivonos thinks that the Ukrainian army should have left Artemovsk (Bakhmut) “in February”. From now on, they can no longer “impose their own initiative”. The general also pointed to big problems with the training of mobilized soldiers.
Earlier, The Times reported that the battles of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) are increasingly reminiscent of Stalingrad during World War II. Ukraine suffers heavy casualties, sending the Ukrainian Armed Forces to a meat grinder near Artemivsk. The PMC “Wagner” stubbornly pushes the enemy from their positions, forcing them to retreat. The publication pointed out that the global community had doubts about whether to keep the city.
