Trump apologists are obsessed with the Secret Service SUV story

Apologists for the former president donald trump are obsessed with potential Secret Service testimony willing to refute a damning allegation of his violent and erratic behavior on January 6.

Hutchinson recalled a conversation she had with Tony Ornato, the head of Trump’s security service. The incident was based on what she said she heard and is therefore not necessarily perjury. Perjury compels the witness to knowingly lie.

Tony proceeded to tell me that when the President entered the Beast, he was under the impression from Mr. Meadows that the unofficial move to the Capitol was still possible and likely to happen, but that Bobby had more information. So once the President got into the vehicle with Bobby, he thought they were getting on Capitol Hill. And when Bobby told him, we’re not, we can’t afford it, it’s not secure, we’re going back to the west wing, the president had a very strong response to that. . Tony described him as furious.

The president said something to the effect of, I’m president effing. Take me to the Capitol now. To which Bobby replied, sir, we have to go back to the west wing. The president reached forward to grab the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm, said, sir, you have to take your hand off the wheel. We return to the west wing. We’re not going to the Capitol.

Mr Trump then used his free hand to rush to [Secret Service agent] Bobby Engel. And Mr.– when Mr. Ornado told me that story, he nodded toward his collarbones.

On Tuesday night, reports surfaced that the Secret Service agents who were with Trump in the SUV were prepared to testify that Hutchinson’s story is false.

As a result, right-wing Twitter users rushed in and sought to illuminate and undermine Hutchinson’s entire credibility and, of course, his testimony. But that completely overlooks some much more damning parts of his testimony that were provided from his first-hand knowledge.

She shared that, from her perspective, Trump was okay with his supporters, who marched to the Capitol, having guns; that he was not disturbed by the chants for the vice-president Mike Pence to be hanged; and that Trump threw his lunch against the wall in the final days of his presidency.

His testimony portrayed Trump not only as pompous, but also as someone with violent tendencies who acted like an authoritarian and demonstrated he was no longer fit to be near a lever of power again.

If the Secret Service debunks this as they apparently would, then what does that say about the rest of Hutchinson’s testimony? Far-right observers like Jack Posobiec be p. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) sought to discredit Hutchinson by showing that it would not have been possible for Trump to grab the steering wheel since it was the Beast, which has a divider between the passengers and the driver – except that Trump was in an SUV, which Hutchinson apparently mistakenly called “the Beast.”

Cassidy Hutchinson lied and the @Janvier6thCmte held a special hearing today to air his lies.

Unfortunately, Fox News Guy Bensonwho is not a Trump apologist, joined the hype in response to news that the Secret Service was ready to refute Hutchinson’s testimony about the alleged incident.

When it comes to public relations, getting perhaps the most splashy allegation quickly squashed by the officers involved is a pretty big mistake. Ultimately, while the committee should hear from the Secret Service agents who were in the vehicle with Trump, even if this part of Hutchinson’s testimony is rebutted, it wouldn’t automatically make the rest of what she testified, which included bomb after bomb, to be fake. Same with who write a note as to what Trump should say as the Capitol riot continued. Hutchinson had a front row seat to what alarmingly happened and she showed her credibility. What if Secret Service agents weren’t telling the truth? At best, it’s a case of hearsay and, at worst, a case of perjury on the part of Hutchinson or Secret Service agents.

Imagine if Trump’s White House actors were Democrats. How would the right react to news from the Secret Service? Quite rightly, they would not have turned on the gas while the left would have. This speculation has demonstrated that nuance and responsibility are warranted on both sides of the aisle and the ideological spectrum, especially when it comes to uncovering what happened before and on that tragic and shameful day in January.
