There was no one to leave a bad review for.

To celebrate a month of living in the Indonesian province of Bali, New Zealand-born traveler Bree Robertson recently decided to book herself a “romantic getaway” to an eastern village. Only, when she arrived at retirement, she discovered that the villa was totally abandoned.

“When you book an Airbnb in Bali and it’s an abandoned building,” wrote Robertson, who publishes travel content as Atypical Adventure, in a viral tiktok video of the desolate villa. “Completely overrun. No one at home. Broken windows,” she described the building.

“The place was $80…and had great reviews,” she explained in the clip’s comments about her decision to rent the deserted property for herself and her partner. “Airbnb also said the host had a one hour response time, so I assumed they were always open.”

There have even been positive reviews of the space on Airbnb and other listing websites, albeit from 2019.

The TikTok user was told she would receive a full refund.

The list has since been removed.

However, after Robertson and his partner took a rainy two-hour scooter ride to the accommodation, they realized how they had ignored the red flags: the accommodation was deserted and falling apart.

“We flipped over and it was very abandoned,” Robertson says the Stuff website. She reported the property to Airbnb’s support team, who promised her a refund, then deleted the listing.

Still, Robertson isn’t sure how the list ever went live in the first place.

“It was super misleading – it was one of the things I was counting on that gave me a lot of reassurance, I was like, ‘they’ve replied to other people, maybe they’re just busy’ “, she told Stuff.

“We were disappointed to learn of this experience and provided our support to the guest at the time, including a full refund,” an Airbnb spokesperson told The Post. “We hold hosts to a high standard and the listing is no longer on the platform.
