The publication notes that last year during the election race for the post of prime minister of the country, Truss often organized events in this field of campaign. Truss, who was then Foreign Secretary, in meetings with his advisers at Chevening House discussed the implementation of his political program, reports TASS.
The Times points out that the government generally bears the costs of holding official events at this particular hotel, but does not pay for private or festive meetings held there.
Truss, who is now a member of the House of Commons, is surprised that the bill for events held in August and September 2022 only reached him in April this year, and intends to challenge it. According to the newspaper’s sources, the former prime minister is ready to pay the bill, but only if it does not contain expenses related to her political activities.
According to a spokesperson for Truss, Liz has always paid for the expenses of her personal guests at Chevening House. As for the latter account, it “includes his personal expenses and expenses for official government events involving officials and senior officials from other departments.”
Truss was elected leader of the Conservative Party on September 5, 2022 and the following day she was confirmed as Prime Minister of Britain. In this position, she worked less than 50 days, setting an anti-record.
