CNN English took readers on a journey to Lusail “City of the future”And quoted them through words and pictures the most prominent tourist places and facts about the newest city in Qatar.

CNN indicated in its report that construction work in Lusail began in 2006, long before Qatar won hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to become a city of events and home to major shopping centers, parks, international restaurants and islands.

City of Sand described Lucille as CNN “A city of sand”She pointed out that building a city of sand requires a lot of imagination, which Lusail succeeded in being the first sustainable city in Qatar.

Bryce McDevitt, vice president of Parsons, which is overseeing construction, said: “The future of infrastructure is unlimited in the Middle East, and there is a sense of imagination and possibility not found anywhere else”.

He added that building a city from scratch allows designing a city that achieves the required goals such as sustainability, ease of access and economic equality, and the existing infrastructure is not adhered to, which gives an opportunity to build roads, airports, public transport and landscapes with a smart urban design that takes into account the goals of sustainability.

CNN focused in its report on the sustainability of Lusail City, which includes a tram line designed to reduce the need for cars, systems to conserve and reuse water to grow native plants, and build artificial reefs along the Lusail coast to encourage marine life to settle.

Australian Katie Warner, a mobile travel agent, said that she moved from Doha to Lusail because it is a sustainable city, as the building she lives in contains sustainable systems such as water recycling for gardens, solar panels to heat the building’s water, gas services for all cooking appliances, regulated electrical use and separate recycling.

Warner added that Lusail is full of greenery and contains all the daily needs of groceries, transportation, entertainment, restaurants and cafes.

Exceptional landmarks

CNN highlighted the sword-shaped Katara Towers, which includes two luxury hotels: the Fairmont Doha and the all-suite Raffles Doha, Qatar’s first six-star hotel.

Lusail contains 19 residential and commercial districts, and Lusail Stadium and Lusail Plaza Towers are connected to Lusail Street, which regularly hosts events and parades such as the Food Festival and the annual Classic Car Show.
