The Beatles dissolved in 1974 after changing music forever, ruling the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people for a decade, and having created music that was set to enthrall listeners for decades to follow. Now, in 2023, after having lost John Lennon in 1980, and George Harrison in 2001, The Beatles will release one more song, featuring all four Beatles.
Paul McCartney who is currently 80 years old, said in a program by BBC radio that they have created the final Beatles song with the help of AI. Yes, the legendary Beatle is well aware of AI technology and how it has been impacting the music industry. He decided to dip his toe into the new technology and bring out something cool, something that would never have reached the audiences.
There’s a demo that John and Sir Paul had worked on back in 1969, while working on the last Beatles album to release, Let it Be (Note: while Let it Be was the last Beatles album to be released, Abbey Road was the last one they had worked on) Now, AI is being used to create the voices of John Lennon and George Harrison to bring that song to life.

“When we came to make what will be the last Beatles record – it was a demo that John had that we worked on and we just finished it up, it will be released this year – and we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI,” McCartney added, “So then we were able to mix the record as you would normally do.”
He hasn’t mentioned anything about the involvement of the other surviving Beatle Ringo Starr in this project.
This is not the first time that AI would be used in relation to The Beatles. In 2021, Peter Jackson directorial docuseries, The Beatles: Get Back had John Lennon’s voice isolated using AI.
Sir Paul McCartney, like everyone else is amazed as well as a bit scared by what’s possible today with AI. He admits, there is “a good side and a scary side” to it. “We’ll just have to see where that leads,” he added.
