Sharif visits Turkish Embassy to express solidarity with quake victims

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Visited the Turkish Embassy on Monday in Islamabad hand over its governments support and express solidarity with victims of devastating earthquake on February 6 in Turkey in which over 31000 people so far have died.

Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Pakaci received Sharif and members of his cabinet, including Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Justice Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik.

In his speech, Sharif promised that Islamabad would continue support Ankara”in All possible way” to rehabilitation of earthquake victims.

“The entire Pakistani people are saddened over huge damage and loss of life in earthquakes. We see it as our own loss,” he said.

Sharif said that government It has already launched a nationwide campaign involving people from all walks of life, including educational institutions, business community of philanthropists and others, to raise funds and relief items for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

So far, Islamabad has sent over 150 tons of emergency supplies including winter tents, clothing, blankets and food items to earthquake-hit areas of Turkey.

Volunteers from various charities including Edhi and Al-Khidmat Foundation, also involved in search and rescue and rescue operations in various earthquakes.hit regions.
