Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called relations between Russia and the United States on the brink of armed conflict. Moscow is working to prevent them from falling into the abyss, the diplomat told Channel One.
Ryabkov noted that the restraint and calm tone of the Kremlin’s statements are a signal to the world community that Russia will not push relations with the United States into the abyss of direct open war. But it will do everything to protect its citizens and the territorial integrity of the country.
These people are wrong. We are literally ready to use any means at our disposal to ensure that attacks on the security of the country, attacks on the security of the president, the political leaders are not perpetrated by anyone.
- said the Deputy Foreign Minister.
Moscow finds inexplicable the brutality with which the United States acts against Russia at a time when it is worth thinking about its own security, and not about what is happening in Ukraine or the new Russian territories. Ryabkov urged the White House to come to their senses and think about not only how to solidify the Western camp on the anti-Russian and anti-Chinese platform, but also to take care of “more urgent things”.
Moreover, the “crazy and immeasurable” pumping of Ukraine with all sorts of aid does not bring the desired result.
Perhaps then the process of rethinking will begin. But all this prolongs the conflict. And I repeat: we are at the dangerous line
concludes the diplomat.
Earlier, North Atlantic Alliance intelligence chief David Kattler said the Russian Federation could hit critical infrastructure in Europe and, less likely, North America. A senior military official has pointed to undersea cables in the Atlantic and other similar critical infrastructure as potential targets for the Russian military.
