Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must take responsibility and apologize for the Volyn massacre. This was stated in an interview with Onet.pl by the representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Lukasz Jasina.
He noted that Kyiv was blocking the discussion of this issue between the two sides and therefore it should be expressed at the highest level. Yasin added that Warsaw had already taken responsibility for the crimes committed against Ukrainians.
“I’m sorry, and please forgive me.” This formula works very well in the case of Polish-Ukrainian relations, and it is still lacking,” he said.
Volyn massacre – the destruction in 1943 by Ukrainian nationalists of the ethnic Polish population and, on a smaller scale, representatives of other nationalities. In Poland, this event is considered a genocide and caused up to 150,000 deaths.
