LAS VEGAS: Brooklyn-based Pakistani-born vocalist Aruj Aftab. on Sunday scored her first Grammy, receiving the prestigious trophy for her song “Mohabbat” in in the Best World Performance category.
37-year-Old – who lived in New York for some 15 years – steadily gaining global Attention for her work what fuses ancient Sufi traditions with intonation of folk, jazz and minimalism.
She also up for the coveted best new artist prize which will be presented during main The telecast of the Grammys later on Sunday.
“I’m beside myself with delight,” the artist told reporters backstage at the pre-holiday ceremony, which was attended by the vast majority of awards presented out. “Feels great”.

Born in Pakistan parents in Saudi Arabia, Aftab spent her teenage years in Lahore before moving to the prestigious Boston Berkeley School. of Music for study music production and engineering.

Talking to AFP in days leading up before the Grammys, Aftab praised her fellow artists nominated for Best New Artist, including beloved Olivia Rodrigo. with rappers Saweetie and The Kid Laroi.
