Alexander Uss has been in office since 2018. He expected to be re-elected as governor, but the Kremlin was skeptical of the idea due to the politician’s low ratings and demand from locals for change of government.
Earlier, it was reported that the governor’s son, Artem Uss, was arrested in absentia in Russia in October 2022 on suspicion of money laundering and placed on the federal wanted list.
