A HUNTER survived for a month by eating worms and drinking rainwater from his shoes after getting lost in the jungle.

Jhonattan Acosta, 30, hid from jaguars and peccaries — aggressive pig-like animals — and ate insects and fruit.

He had become separated from his friends while hunting in the Amazon in Bolivia on January 25.

But he was found on Saturday when a search party heard him shouting, “Please get me out of here”.

He lost 37lb and dislocated his ankle during his 31-day ordeal.

He said: “It’s incredible, I can’t believe people kept up the search for so long.

“I ate worms, I ate insects.

“You wouldn’t believe all I had to do to survive all this time.”

Jhonattan says he is giving up hunting and will instead make music for God who has “given me a new life”.
