Expert McCardle: Kornet anti-tank systems are a danger to Western tanks

Russian anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) “Kornet” can be extremely dangerous for tank equipment supplied by the West. This was stated in an interview with Newsweek magazine by military expert Guy McCardle.

“Russian ‘tank destroyers’ will most likely use the 9M133 Kornet ATGM,” McCardle said.

The military expert noted that the installations of the Russian Federation “Kornet” are in many ways similar to the Javelin ATGM in the United States. However, McCardle pointed out that the range of Russian anti-tank systems is almost twice as long.

Also, McCardle expressed the opinion that Western tanks in Ukraine are usually equipped with dynamic protection, but this should not help in the event of a collision with the Kornets.

The emergence of special groups of servicemen who know the weaknesses of NATO tanks will help in the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated in paragraph military expert Yuri Knutov, commenting on the instruction of the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Yunus-Bek Yevkurov on the creation of special forces.
