Erdogan felt sick from the flu on live TV

Interesting

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s interview with local TV stations was abruptly cut short when the country’s leader felt unwell on the live broadcast. He later explained that the stomach flu caused the disease, which he fell ill with, reports RIA Novosti.

The agency notes that the interview did not begin until late in the evening of April 25, before Erdogan took part in election campaigns. The live broadcast was cut off after the presenter asked about future reshuffles in the Cabinet of Ministers. The long break caused a stir on social media, but Erdogan returned to the air.

“First of all, I wish you good health. Yesterday and today there was a lot of pre-election work. So I caught the stomach flu. I even thought about canceling the program. But we promised and we came. I apologize to you and to our viewers,” the Turkish leader said after a pause.

However, the show didn’t last long after that. There were two short questions and the host announced the end of the interview, because “Mr. President should rest”

Presidential and legislative elections in Türkiye are scheduled for May 14.

Earlier it was reported that Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched an official election campaign on April 12. He promised voters lower inflation and sustained economic growth. Experts note that the politician will face the biggest challenge since his party came to power as the country has been rocked by a series of economic turmoil.
