Dame Cressida Dick warned that “the politicization of police” is a threat how officers do their job, and criminal justice system, in some of her final notes as Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

As her term of office comes to an end, force senior the officer said she would meditate on which more she and others could potentially do in their time in in role.

She suggested that more you need to do to “root” out those who do not uphold our standards and do not deserve to wear our uniforms.”

She said she was “really proud” of what the force achieved in She’s five years old in work, adding that it is “a lot more varied, many more professional and big with more more than 34,000 officers worked.

“I will always watch back on my time as commissioner with pride for what has been achieved with humility for when Londoners were allowed down and with huge confidence in changes we make will ensure you can be proud of meeting forward.”

Dame Cressida admitted the mistakes of the Met while she was in power

She stressed that “violence down”, as well as murders, shootings and stabbings, adding: “These numbers are not random. They don’t repeat in other major UK cities.

But she acknowledged criticism from the Met. faced since she was in power adding: “We hear criticism, know not everyone has confidence in us provide good service when they need usand saw among us those whose terrible actions allowed you all, and us, down so terrible.

But her letter has not escaped criticism. of British “politicization of police”.

“Operational independence from local and central government is critical for effective democracy is model respected in everything world. We should all value and protect him.”

She ended the letter by saying that she was “sad” that her time in this great Job fast nearing the end”, but expressed her excitement for Metropolitan future.

‘I’ll see back and analyze further’

During a visit to the Metropolitan Police Training Center in Gravesend, Kent, Dame Cressida was applauded by firearms officers and public order officers who introduced her with testimony after her 40s of service.

She is also thanked each officer and trainer in the center, with many also thanking her in return for her leadership.

Speaking about whether she regretted what she could have done differently, Dame Cressida told reporters: “I think as I sit there, after I left, I will look back and I will analyze further what happened potentially, what I could do or what others could do in special circumstances.

“But I’m really proud of What did the Metropolitan achieve? in this time. I think London should know that he has a fantastic police service, world-leading police service, which people from everything over in world come see what is there improved.”

Her last day in post will on Sunday after which she takes unused annual leave, with her final day of employment April 24th.
