US President Joe Biden, in coordination with European allies, on Thursday unleashed what he described as a “devastating package of sanctions and other economic measures” to hold Russia to account for its invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions include the freezing of assets of four major Russian banks, including VTB, which Biden said held more than $ 250 billion in the US.
