Assailants shoot teacher dead in Gulu City

Unknown gunmen on Monday shot dead a teacher of Ogom seeds secondary school after stopping him while on his way home from Gulu city on a motorcycle under registration number UFM 117W Bajaj.

The deceased was identified as David Odong, 45, a resident of Pabit village, Oding parish, Unyama sub-county in Gulu district.

It was alleged that on 25th April 2022 at about 1:00 am, two people who were also on a motorcycle immediately shot at him before riding off with his motorcycle at Unyama B cell.

According to ASP David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River region police spokesperson, the case was reported by Christine Abalo, a resident of Pabit village where the deceased hailed from at around 6:10 am.

Mudong said that well-wishers picked him up and rushed him to Lacor hospital where he was pronounced dead in the morning. He added that a case of aggravated robbery and murder has been registered at Unyama police vide SD 06/25/04/22 while the deceased body is in Lacor hospital awaiting postmortem.

Mudong said an investigation into the matter is ongoing at Gulu East police station under CRB 44/2022.
