Exciting news for the fans of the Armored Core series! The upcoming release of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon promises a potentially robust multiplayer system. The game by FromSoftware is set to hit shelves on August 25.
FromSoftware’s games have typically been known for their solo experiences, but Armored Core VI is likely to break away from that pattern. The back of the game’s physical box suggests that the new installment will allow up to six players. One can speculate that the game will support a team-based 6v6 multiplayer mode. There was a similar rumor earlier this year too.

In previous titles of the Armored Core series, multiplayer was achieved through split-screen and system link. Later it shifted to online play. Armored Core V: Verdict Day, the last mainline game in the series, heavily emphasized multiplayer. It allowed three factions to compete over territory in 5v5 online play.
Other FromSoftware titles such as Bloodborne and Elden Ring have offered multiplayer options too, but they were often minimalistic in comparison. For instance, Elden Ring allows up to four players to cooperate. But going multiplayer was not a compelling demand to play and win the game.

FromSoftware has been tight-lipped about the details of the potential multiplayer nature of Armored Core VI. In an interview in April, the company mentioned its intention to prioritize the single-player experience. However, the Japanese copy of the game indicates support for up to six players and three spectators, hinting at the possibility of an enjoyable multiplayer mode.
As per the trailer, the game will offer the usual mech action gameplay with extensive customization. You’ll have quick combat and intense battles against challenging bosses. However, we’d urge you to manage your expectations about the multiplayer integration until there is some official word.
