New date for annual meeting in Beijing will be announced later, as cases outside China jump
China has delayed its annual parliamentary meeting as authorities struggle to contain the coronavirus outbreak, which has spread to more countries and prompted fears of a global pandemic.
On Monday, Beijing postponed the key political event, the National People’s Congress (NPC), which sees hundreds of delegates gather in Beijing every March.
