European Stocks Close at Two-Week High
Miners and NN Group Boost European Stocks
European stocks closed at their highest level in two weeks on Tuesday, helped by mining stocks on the back of higher metals prices and better-performing stocks of NN Group, the Netherlands’ largest insurance company. The pan-European STOXX 600 closed up 1% on broad gains, posting its best two consecutive days in more than a month.
Shares in European mining companies rose 2.1% to their highest level in three weeks in trading today, according to Reuters.
HSBC, Prudential, and Barclays Show Positive Performance
Shares of Europe’s largest bank HSBC and insurance company Prudential, which does business in China, rose 1.3% and 4%, respectively, while Barclays shares rose 4.2%.
Luxury Goods Sector Reaches Two-Week High
The luxury goods sector rose 1.3% to close at its highest level in two weeks.
FTSE 100 Rises After Holiday
Britain’s FTSE 100 rose 1.7% to a two-week high after Monday’s holiday.
NN Group Leads European Index
The share of the Dutch insurance services group NN jumped 10.2%, reaching the highest level in the European index, after improving its financial position in the first half of this year.
