Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing of Saudi Arabia Introduces New Regulations on Fees for Tobacco Products
Introduction
The Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing of Saudi Arabia, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Khogail, agreed to amend the regulation on fees for the presentation of tobacco products to replace the provision for fees for the presentation of tobacco products.
And the official newspaper Umm al-Qura reported that the new rules provide that “in exchange for issuing or renewing a license for the sale of tobacco products in cities and beyond, a fixed annual fee is charged in accordance with the categories indicated in Table No. .1 is attached to these regulations.”
The decree states that the place providing tobacco products in cities and beyond will be charged a fee of 100% of the total sales of tobacco products, provided that the fee is not less than 25 rials per unit of tobacco.
Fees for Issuing a License
Fees for issuing a license for the sale of tobacco products in cities and beyond during periods of seasons and events may be charged daily, by dividing the fee by the number of days in a year, according to the categories specified in the regulations, provided that the license fee is not less than 5000 rials when calculating the amount of the fee.
Monthly Sales Report
Article 3 states: “A person licensed to supply tobacco products shall, at the end of each month of the Gregorian calendar, submit to the municipality a monthly sales report, including the amount of the fee in a separate item, within five days, and pay the cost of the fee provided for in paragraph (2) Article 2, to the specified account. Therefore, not later than fifteen days of each month of the Gregorian calendar, and the municipality has the right to take the necessary legal steps to verify the validity of this bill.
