The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Supports Exporters with Electronic Certificates of Origin
Efforts to Support and Facilitate Exporters
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia issued around 203,900 “certificates of origin” in the first half of 2023 as part of its efforts to support and facilitate the servicing of exporters in various sectors, whether industrial, commercial or individual sector.
The Electronic Certificate of Origin service allows local exporters and manufacturers to issue a certificate of origin and track it electronically without the need for verification by the ministry to save time and effort.
This service helps to increase exports and improve the economy of various categories for factories, companies or individuals, as it facilitates and speeds up the export process and better serves factories.
What is a Certificate of Origin?
A certificate of origin is a document certifying that products exported abroad are of national origin or have acquired the status of national origin. The service is aimed at industrial enterprises, the commercial sector of companies and institutions, as well as the individual sector, which includes farmers, fishermen, self-employed people, local artisans and others.
The certificate includes four forms: a certificate of origin for the national goods of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, a certificate of origin for the national goods of the Arab countries, a preferential certificate of origin, a unified form for the Arab states of the Gulf when exporting to countries and economic groups with which free trade agreements have been concluded, and a certificate of origin in Arabic and English for countries that do not provide preferential treatment in a general form.
