The story begins on June 7 when content creator Nicholas ‘Nickmercs’ Kolcheff commented on a tweet condemning an attack on LGBTQIA+ demonstrators saying, “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.” Hare they, obviously, refers to the LGBTQUIA+ people and activists. The tweet got over 15 million views, and nearly 15 thousand retweets. With a followership as big as Nickmercs’, a strong backlash was certain.

Activision decided to pull the Nickmercs operator bundle they’d launched saying, “Due to recent events, we have removed the “NICKMERCS Operator” bundle from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store,” the company added. “We are focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and our community.”
Timothy John Beta whose game name is TimTheTatman is an old friend of Nickmercs. They even got their operator skins in Call of Duty together. He called on Activision to remove his operator skins as well. He did this to show solidarity with friend Nicholas.

Activision has removed the TimTheTatman operator bundle from Call of Duty and Warzone according to the content creator’s request. One the other side, Nickmercs has refused to apologize for his comment saying his tweet was not anti-gay.
