Fashion circles around, but millennials certainly didn’t expect to feel so young when the popular disc belts came back into vogue. Alexandra Helga Ívarsdóttir, a former beauty queen and entrepreneur, is among those horrified by the trend.
Podcast queens Sunneva Einarsdóttir and Birta Líf Ólafsdóttir talked about summer fashion and trends in last episode of Tea Party.
“Chunky belt, the good old disc belt. Crazy,” Sunneva said on the show, and Birta Líf agreed: “Crazy cool.”
“And just big, big belts, go to your grandma’s closet, you know, and find her old belts,” Sunneva said.
Sunneva and Birta say this belt is back in fashion.
Sunneva said she had been looking for a belt like this for a long time. “It’s still sold out on Amazon,” she said, but added that owning an old belt is much more stylish than buying a new one.
“Go to your mother’s, your grandmother’s, your aunt’s closet,” she said.
Alexandra not impressed
“I feel old,” Alexandra Helga said, posting an audio clip of the show on Instagram.
She then posted an old photo of herself and her friends wearing such belts.

Alexandra only joked about it and posted a joke about American Idol judge Simon Cowell.

The entrepreneur is not the only one not to be in this trend. Millennials, people born between 1981 and 1996, scarcely believe it it’s back.
