Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko warned the West against supplying combat aircraft to Ukraine, stressing that the West’s efforts “carry huge risks for Ukraine.”
Grushko stressed that Western countries continue to follow the path of escalation of the Ukrainian conflict, and Russia will take into account his intention to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv.
The deputy minister said: “There is movement on the so-called escalation ladder. We see that Western countries are still adhering to the escalation scenario, which entails huge risks for them, and in any case we will take this into account. in all our plans”, adding: “We have all the means necessary to achieve our goals.
The minister’s comments follow U.S. support for a joint international effort to train Ukrainian pilots in the use of modern combat aircraft, including the F-16 fighter. According to a senior administration official, this opens the way for sending advanced Western fighter jets to Ukraine.
Washington’s decision follows a concerted effort by Ukraine to ensure that its allies provide its troops with modern aircraft, in particular the American F-16.
