Russian nationalist writer Zakhar Prilepin, a supporter of the Kremlin’s attack on Ukraine, was injured in a car “bomb” in Russia on Saturday, killing another, the Russian Interior Ministry said, amid a spate of attacks targeting the country.

“According to preliminary information, a man died as a result of the explosion, and the writer Zakhar Prilepin, who was in the car, was injured,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement, noting that the accident occurred in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

According to Russian security sources, the car of Russian writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin, leader of the Just Russia party, exploded today in the Nizhny Novgorod region east of Moscow, injuring him and killing the driver.

A source in law enforcement agencies told Sputnik that a car explosion occurred on a highway in the Bor district, the driver died, and politician Prilebin was injured.

The source indicated that authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
