Czech model Paulina Porizkova has been in the limelight since she was a child, including being one of the top models of the 1980s and the first European woman to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 1984 swimsuit issue.
Today, Porizkova is 58 and in great shape, she has strong opinions about fashion and beauty, having grown up in the business and saying that beauty is not a one-size-fits-all standard. Porizkova is active on social media and says she’s been body-shamed many times when she posts photos of her body, especially when she’s scantily clad.
Comments such as “A 58-year-old woman is too old to wear a bikini.” Porizkova points out that such comments show that the person does not understand the concept of beauty, with such a comment, the person’s opinion is that old age is the same as ugly.

“I get comments like this every time I post pictures of my body. I can’t stand age abuse, older men are respectable, older women are ugly. People who think that being beautiful is synonymous with beauty do not understand the concept. Being beautiful is something to look at, easy to accept but also often easy to forget. Beauty is different, it affects you, it can hurt you, leave a scar. To understand and appreciate beauty, you really have to see!” says Porizkova.
“I believe that we become more beautiful with age. We have earned our beauty, we understand what it entails and we know how to see it better. There is no such thing as old and ugly. Only ignorance and stupidity.
