Almost all Russian citizens have been evacuated from “hot spots” in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, they are placed in the Russian Embassy, said Russian Ambassador to Sudan Andrey Chernovol.
According to him, active battles are taking place all over the capital, and the number of “hot spots” in the city has reached 6-7.
“Fortunately, we managed to get people out of there, except for a Russian woman with a child in the Nubian Metropolis building. This is the last point where, apart from the embassy, our citizens are in a dangerous situation,” he said, noting that all the others were evacuated to the embassy.
Chernovol said the embassy is also in contact with Russians away from the scene of hostilities. According to him, they follow the recommendations not to go out.
Previously, Chernovol had said that the evacuation of Russians using planes from Khartoum was impossible.
Fighting has been going on in Sudan since April 15 between rapid reaction forces and the regular army. The death toll from the clashes has risen to 600, according to the Sudanese Minister of Health.
