The Holy Fire from Jerusalem was brought to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior before the end of the Patriarchal Liturgy. This was reported by the correspondent of RIA Novosti from the stage.
The delivery of the sacred fire to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and to 11 churches in the capital is traditionally managed by the Saint-André le Premier Appelé Foundation. The plane with the holy lamp landed at Vnukovo-3 airport around 1 a.m. on April 16. He was taken to the main temple in Moscow at the very end of the Easter service of the Patriarch of Moscow and Kirill All Rus.
The festive service was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. In addition, according to tradition, the temple was visited by the Apostolic Nuncio (diplomatic representative of the Pope) in Russia Giovanni d’Agnello and the head of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Russia, Archbishop Pavel (Paolo) Pezzi.
The miracle of the Descent of the Holy Fire takes place in Jerusalem on the eve of the feast of the Resurrection of Christ. By tradition, it is delivered to the four corners of the globe.
