Patna Eight more people died in East Champaran district on Saturday. Of these, 5 were from Tukauliya, two from Harsiddhi and one from Paharpur. On Friday also 4 people lost their lives in Turkaulia and 4 in Paharpur.
Within the last two days, 14 people have died in suspicious condition in Bihar’s Motihari. There is a possibility of his death due to the consumption of poisonous liquor. A dozen people living in different areas of East Champaran district are undergoing treatment. His eyesight has also gone. Prohibition Department and FSL teams from Patna are reaching Motihari. Police has detained 7 people and they are being interrogated. However, the local administration is yet to confirm the death due to spurious liquor. It is being said that the post-mortem of the dead bodies will be done first.
According to the information, 8 more people died in East Champaran district on Saturday. Of these, 5 were from Tukauliya, two from Harsiddhi and one from Paharpur. On Friday also 4 people lost their lives in Turkaulia and 4 in Paharpur. Within two days, 14 people have lost their lives. This number may increase further. 10 people have been admitted to Motihari Sadar Hospital. Two of them have been referred to Muzaffarpur in critical condition.
Complaints of decreased eyesight and restlessness have been found in all the patients admitted to the hospital. At the same time, the Police Headquarters has so far confirmed four deaths in the district. The headquarters has expressed the possibility of death due to poisonous liquor. The local administration is refraining from verifying the liquor. The administration says that the reason will be revealed after the post-mortem of the dead bodies. Meanwhile, Prohibition and FSL teams have left from Patna. Seven suspects have been detained so far. Some people are being taken to private hospitals for treatment.
There is also information that the relatives of many of the deceased have cremated the dead bodies without conducting the post-mortem. Meanwhile, the villagers and relatives have said that the health had deteriorated after drinking alcohol.
77 people lost their lives in Chhapra liquor case
Last year in the month of December, there was a tragic liquor incident in Chhapra. 77 people had died due to spurious liquor in different villages of Saran district. After this, the Nitish government came under the scanner. The opposition surrounded the government fiercely on this issue. Although Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said that whoever drinks will die, he also refused to give compensation to the families of the victims of the liquor scandal.
