ISLAMABAD: Shirin Mazari, leader of opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has stated former army commander retired general Qamar Javed Bajwa proposed “relocation” of Pakistani citizens associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after the Afghan Taliban seized power of Kabul in 2021.
In an interview with Dawn news, Mazari made these comments at a time when the country experienced a surge in terrorist activity.
The most recent incident was attack on Karachi Police Chief office last Friday, as a result in four people died and 16 were injured after a prolonged battle between terrorists and law enforcement. It is reported that all three terrorists were killed.
Mazari claimed that Bajwa raised issue of Members of the TPP who wished back to Pakistan, and if they were ready to lay down their weapons and adopt a constitution, some form of resettlement and negotiations should be initiated.
According to Mazari, the meeting was attended by retired General Faiz Hamid, who at the time was the intelligence chief.
However, this proposal provoked an immediate reaction from PTI members, resulting in in a meeting is called. It was decided to create a commission between elected representatives and military reach a consensus before dialogue was initiated.
