THE UK has ignored Putin’s threat of nuclear strikes against countries that “interfere” with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian leader issued a warning in a speech in St Petersburg, and threatened ‘lightning fast’ retaliatory strikes against the besieged country‘s allies.
Putin warned: “If someone from the outside tries to intervene in Ukraine then our response will be lightning-fast. We have all the weapons we need for this. No one else can brag about weapons, and we won’t brag about them. But we will use them.”
But foreign secretary Liz Truss said Britain would “double down” on support for Ukraine including further supplies of heavy artillery – and called for allies to push for Russian forces to entirely leave Ukraine’s territory.
Referring to Russia’s recent focus on areas in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, she defiantly said: “We are going to keep going further and faster to push Russia out of the whole of Ukraine.”
She continued: “Some argue we shouldn’t provide heavy weapons for fear of provoking something worse. But my view, is that inaction would be the greatest provocation. This is a time for courage not for caution,”
Russia yesterday threatened to smash Britain with its terrifying 16,000mph “Satan 2” RS-28 Sarmat missile for supplying military hardware to Ukraine.
And in a chilling warning, pro-Putin TV anchor Vladimir Solovyov threatened to blow Britain to smithereens using the terrifying projectile.
“As it turned out, one Sarmat means minus one Great Britain,” he said.
