Scandinavian nations fear radioactive dust will blow towards the Arctic as it did in 1986 when a reactor at the plant in Ukraine exploded.
Russia now controls Chernobyl while battalions have shelled Europe’s largest nuclear plant at Zaporizhzhia, also in Ukraine.
Norway defence minister Odd Roger Enoksen said the public had been put on alert and anti-radiation medicine stock-piled.
He added: “What we said to the public is ‘be ready’.
“Not for a nuclear attack but for radioactive wind and rain.

He added that Russia launched nuclear subs into the Arctic Sea after the invasion.
He said: “We do not see it as a military threat.
“It was more as if they were saying, ‘We are here . . . don’t do anything stupid’.”
