Pomp and ceremony in Beijing could be overshadowed by unrest that has roiled Hong Kong for 17 weeks

But there’s also a fair amount of smog in the sky – odd, as officials usually enforce pollution control measures, and deploy cloud-seeding to clear things up in the lead-up to big events .
